most can run on either depending on what type you buy. there are electric/gas dryers, water heaters, etc. when you purchase them at the store you have to decide which you want. most people go with gas as it seems to be less expensive.

    natural gas or gasoline.
I dont know of any appliances that run on gasoline. maybe you could consider lawn equipment as an appliance
but if you have a natural gas furnace or water heater, they would run on natural gas.

as far as saving money on dishwasher use. make sure the dishwasher is full, most dishwashers have an option to have a heated drying. turn the switch off.

To save energy while using the dishwasher:
-Save on water by scraping food off plates than pre-rinsing them.
-To save on even more energy, use the shortest cycle for lightly soiled loads.
-Air-dry dishes instead of choosing the option on the dishwasher.
-Don’t overload: this can lead to poor water circulation and dirty dishes
-Check and clean drains and filters regularly
New Energy Star-rated dishwasher models use 25% less energy than older models, helping to save on water, and some even automatically dispense the right amount of detergent.

There are many ways to save energy around the house:
-Good insulation is the key to an energy-efficient home. Insulating your attic and your basement can be the key factor in helping you reduce your energy bill.
-Use compact fluorescent lightbulbs. CFLs use up to 75% less energy than incandescent bulbs, and last up to 10 times longer.
-Programmable thermostats allow you to pre-program temperature settings for when you are away or asleep, helping you reduce your energy consumption by 1% for every 1°C over a seven-hour period each day.
-Help reduce your heating costs by installing Energy Star windows and doors to help lower your energy bills by 12%. Window drapes and coverings can be used over windows to help reduce heat loss, opening them up during days to let in the sun’s heat in and allow air circulation to get to the glass to reduce condensation problems. Make sure to weatherstrip exterior doors on the sides, top and bottom.
-Installing a ceiling fan in a room can help circulate the air during both winter and summer months. In the summer, the fan helps to cool a room if it is set to turn in a counter-clockwise direction, which helps to circulate the air, bringing the hot air upwards. Reversing the motor to a clock-wise direction during winter months help push the warmer air near the ceiling down into the room.
